Life Is Moody. So Is Your Skin.
Behind the scenes with our goofy families throughout the years
I found our “About Us” page hadn’t been updated in nearly a decade — how embarrassing! It still said my daughter was in high school… she turns 26 this year. We keep our Facebook community updated but neglected the website a bit... I’ll do better. If you’re not in our FB group, join us! Here’s a quick recap:
In 2010, Moody Sisters began with two sisters, a lot of trial and error, and skin that never seemed to cooperate.
Back then, I didn’t know we were starting a business. I just knew I was tired of feeling frustrated with my skin. It changed constantly — with stress, with seasons, with hormones, with life. Nothing seemed to fit. Heck, Whitney couldn’t even wear deodorant without breaking into awful rashes.
So we started making our own.
Small batches. A lot of learning as we went. We joked about naming our business “Reject Lotions by Jess & Whit” because we had more failures than successes for a long time. We didn’t know those tiny skin solutions we were creating would become a business that lets us be there for our young families.
In 2013, I quit my stressful job in IT, moved with my husband and daughter to Florida, and began working Moody Sisters full-time. Whitney and I used facetime to keep the business growing from 2 opposite ends of the country. The business grew. Our community grew. Our kids grew too!
When demand grew, making products in our small kitchens just wasn’t enough. We teamed up with small makers who value quality and craft like we do. That let us focus on intention and keep our products feeling personal. We don’t drop-ship from a warehouse — we see and smell our inventory, pack each item with care, and include a handwritten note. We give customers personalized attention, so that we can make sure our skincare works for your moody skin too.
In 2025, Whitney stepped away to pursue one of her dreams. That season was a little bittersweet for me. So much of this brand is wrapped up in our history as sisters — and that will always be part of its foundation. But I never would have been where I am today without my sister supporting my move to Florida. I am grateful for every year and every season of Moody Sisters. Today, the day to day biz is run by me here in Florida, but it still carries the heart we built together.
Moody Sisters and Moody Daughters, 2026
Sixteen years is a long time.
Our kids aren’t little anymore. Our lives look different. I definitely look different.
(where did all those gray hairs come from?!)
And skin is still moody — shifting with stress, weather, diet, hormones, and all the quiet things we carry.
This brand has grown up alongside my family.
It has grown up alongside you.
And after all these years, Moody Sisters is still offering products to support it through every season.
Thank you for being our customer!
XOXO,
Moody Sister Jess
