Quick Halloween Makeup Ideas Using Black Eyeliner

Halloween is undoubtedly one of the best holidays of the year. Scary movies, costumes, and (most importantly) candy. If you’re looking for an easy way to accomplish a stunning costume (which always helps with getting candy), you’re in the right place.

1. Scarecrow

If you’re looking for something quick and easy, this scarecrow look is perfect for you. Scarecrows are a Halloween classic, and can certainly be made to suit any person. Despite being the inspiration for some of the scariest movie characters over the years, they’re also one of the most popular costumes for kids.

To achieve this look, simply extend your mouth using black eyeliner with a line on either side. Then make smaller lines up and down to look like stitches. For your lips, use your black eyeliner to fill in the outer corners of your upper lip and to create a box in the middle of your lower lip. Use a red lipstick to complete the look and you can add some hay to openings of your clothes. Overalls required. ;)

2. Scars

Scars are a popular addition to many Halloween costumes. They can be the little extra something that really makes you stand out. These gruesome additions are often accomplished with expensive adhesives from costume stores, but these don’t always stick. If you’re looking for a surefire way to add a scar to your costume without spending a penny, don’t worry. All you need is your black eyeliner.

To achieve this look, create two small lines with a thin gap between them. These lines will determine the shape and size of your scar. Next you’ll need to add stitches across the scar. These stitches are a little different from the ones in a scarecrow look, as they don’t go through the gap between the lines. To turn your scar into an open wound, add some red lipstick or eyeshadow to the opening.

3. Skeleton

Like the scarecrow, skeletons are a Halloween classic perfect for anyone. They can certainly make a cute costume for kids, but they’re also a symbol of the things that scare us most: the inevitability of our own death and decay. This year, skip the hot latex mask by creating your own skull look.

For this look, you’ll also need white face paint or a very pale foundation. Start by using the black eyeliner to draw and fill in large circles around your eyes and on the tip of your nose. Now go ahead and apply the face paint or foundation to the rest of your face. Use the eyeliner to extend your mouth in either direction, then create lines across to show the skull’s teeth. Finally, add a final touch by drawing cracks in the skull. Wear all black to complete the simple Halloween skeleton look!

Thick lines from your lower lid should extend well past your brow and almost to your nose. Next, apply equally dramatic makeup to your brows, continuing the mirror effect by drawing the outer section both up and downwards. Complete the top half of your look by drawing a large crescent to your forehead. Finally, add swirls to your cheeks and an upward point to your chin to finish things off.

We all know that feeling. You either hadn’t planned on celebrating Halloween, or you just put off shopping for too long. Either way: you kid needs a costume Right. This. Second. The costume also has to be one of a kind, because nobody wants to show up wearing the same thing as their friend. But it also needs to cost basically nothing. If you’re stuck here, this butterfly look is the perfect solution.

For this look, the only thing essential is to draw the outline of the butterfly. You can use facial features as references, going around the eyes and mouth with a central point at the tip of the nose. To make the costume special, you or your child can use eyeshadow or lipstick to color in the butterfly.

6. Spiderweb Eyes

Not everyone has the chance to wear a full costume on Halloween. It may be out of dress code, out of the budget, or out of your comfort zone. This look is perfect if you want to celebrate Halloween without rocking a full costume.

You’ll begin by putting on some bright eyeshadow - we recommend a fun gold. For the best results, blend a dark shade on your inner lid with a lighter shade on the outside of your lid.
