What Lip Color should I wear for my skin type?

What kind of tones work best with certain skin tones? I can never figure that out. I'm super fair and have red undertones. Do I wear warm colors or cool colors on my lips? I hardly ever wear lipstick or anything very pigmented because I just can't figure it out.

TIP: Worry less about if your skin is fair or bronze… and focus more on your skin TONE.

An easy way to figure out your skin's undertone is to look at the veins on your wrist or inside of your elbow. If they are blue, you’ve got pink undertones. If your veins are more green, you have a warmer yellow undertone. If they appear to be both blue and green or you can't seem to tell you are most likely neutral skin tone.

Color Matching 101

Now that you know your skin tone here is what we recommend for your lip color.

Green veins means you have a yellow skin undertone. You probably use Moody Sisters natural foundation in Goldensand or Flawless. Try warmer lip colors that have tones of reds, bright pinks or corals.

Blue veins means you have a pink skin undertone. You probably use Moody Sisters natural foundation in Bare Naked or Fresh. Try cooler lip colors that have tones of purple, mauves or browns.

Both green & blue veins means you're most likely neutral skin undertone. You probably use Moody Sister natural foundation Pure or Sassy. Try any colors that are 1-2 shades lighter or darker than your natural lip shade.

What undertone do you think you are? Let us know or email us to have your color matched for you!

Lip Color Recommendations

Lip Gloss

Warmer tones (yellow or neutral skin tones):
Delicate Petal*- coral pink
Pink Passion* – watermelon pink
Ravishing Ruby- dark red

Cooler tones (pink or neutral skin tones):
Sweet Dreams- pearl cream
Plum Kissed*– brownish pink
Ravishing Ruby - dark red

*Lip color for Aged or Lips with lines: lip gloss gives the appearance of plumper lips over matte lip sticks and the lighter the lipstick the more fuller they appear as well. So ladies, if you have some lines, pick a lip gloss that is just 1-2 shades lighter than your natural lip color and it will help hide lines and make them look fuller.
