How to Tackle Unpleasant Odors South of the Border
"First – make sure you are keeping things neat and tidy down there. Ahem, do I need to get more specific? You know….clean up after you go to the bathroom. Don’t leave things hanging around after intimate moments. If you spring a leak of any sort of leak, clean it up. Don’t leave fluids or solids on your lady-bits or man-parts. Recipe for disaster. So make sure you are cleaning up nicely.
Don’t over wash. I know, you are programmed to scrub-a-dub-dub but you honestly don’t want to do that. The more you scrub the more funk your body produces. It does this as a protection mechanism. Instead, wash gently with a soft cloth. Better yet – hit it with the shower nozzle. A steady stream of water is really all you need.
Along similar lines, don’t use harsh soaps. Your intimate areas are super sensitive. They don’t like chemicals. They rebel against them. Use a truly natural soap. Coconut oil based soaps are best….
After bathing, make sure things are dry down there. Trapped moisture won’t do you any favors. It’s like a petri-dish. Try to get some air to your loins. Go commando when possible and to your comfort level.
After bathing, hang out all natural for a bit. It’s good for your whole body, not just your southern hemisphere. Get a little sun. Seriously. Get those lady bit and man parts out into the great wide open. A few minutes of vitamin D will help. If the sun can take the stank right out of cloth diapers, it can take the stank right out of your most tucked away areas.
Work on your flora and fauna. You know – gut health. Make sure you are taking a good probiotic or eating probiotic rich foods/drinking probiotic rich beverages like Kombucha. This can help tremendously.
And here come the comments and the emails…. “But Jennifer, I have tried all that. I still get a little waft of odor and I’m not cool with that.” I get it – sometimes, despite our best efforts, a little bit of nose-scrunching, where-is-that-coming-from-please-tell-me-it-is-not-me happens. I got your back.
Remember how I raved about The Moody Sister’s natural line of body care products? (You can check my post out here if you forgot). Well anyway, they happen to have a super cool Feminine Cleansing Spray. And just because it says ‘feminine’ doesn’t mean that the dudes out there can’t benefit from it. Shoot – even kids can use this product!
Here is what you will find in this little spray bottle of joy: Water, *Aloe Juice, *Liquid Soap (Filtered water, saponified olive oil, coconut oil, hemp oil, glycerin, shea butter, Vitamin E, lavender essential oil, sea salt, citric acid, rosemary extract), *Apple Cider Vinegar, Oil Blend (Sweet Almond Oil, Sunflower Oil, Apricot Kernal Oil), *Vegetable Glycerin, Essential Oils, Vitamin E, Oats Extract, and *Tea Tree Oil (*denotes organic).
This spray is PH balanced so it won’t mess anything up down there. Can I get a high five for that?! The lovely ladies at The Moody Sisters did send me a bottle to try and I made sure that the entire family got involved. I personally wasn’t rocking any funk but I tried it and like the general scent and feel. It left me feeling spring fresh and I could see how it would definitely spruce things up in the odor department!
Rasta Daddy tried to hide from me as I came at him with my magic defunktifier but I’m quick and clever. It didn’t take long to spritz those twigs and berries. And all I will say is…that spray can do some work! Highly recommend it for unpleasant construction worker related odors. Is anyone else laughing now? I’m guessing Rasta Daddy isn’t? Sorry babe.
Tiny of course wanted to see what all the fuss was about so I humored her. Not that a five year old has much to concern herself with in this arena. But it is good to know that it is safe for children. And she loved the scent. In fact, we ended up using it on her stinky feet and it worked great! I also tried it on my armpits as a refresher after a particular sweaty day and I must say, it took the slight scent of hard work right away!
So if you need a little pick me up, have a hot date and want to make sure you are in tip top shape in case something ‘interesting’ happens, or just need a boost because odors happen, then check out The Moody Sister’s Cleansing Spray!" Read the full blog post here.
