Must Have Essential Oils for Relaxation: Mom Edition
Your 'alarm' goes off - a kiddo crawling in bed with you and the sun isn't even up yet. He tells you that there is cereal all over the floor and needs your help cleaning it. As you swing your feet out of bed, your foot lands in a puddle. Looking down, you discover milk...and the cereal. Said kiddo didn't say WHICH floor...but now you know. As you start to clean it up, the baby starts crying, your husband can't find the "power tie" for his meeting today, and your oldest child is telling you about the help she needed on a project that is due...this morning.
Does any of this sound familiar? Maybe your days aren't this hectic...or maybe they are more so....
When mom finally gets a chance to rest, there are a number of basic essential oils that can help create a peaceful and calming environment.
Lavender is one oil that many go to to promote rest and relaxation.
Lavender can be applied topically, allowing the wearer to enjoy the relaxing, floral scent. It can also be added to epsom salts (3-5 drops in 1/4C salts) and allowed to dissolve in warm bathwater. If you have a diffuser, Lavender can be diffused to create a calming atmosphere.
Ylang Ylang is another oil that is great for helping those moments of rest to be even more peaceful. Simply apply to your feet, neck, or shoulders and soak up the relaxation.
Ylang Ylang can be diffused as well.
Other calming essential oils include Tangerine, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli - these are all very calming oils, and when combined, are incredibly relaxing. It can be combined with a carrier oil for a relaxing massage.
We recommend our Aromatherapy Essential Oil Mood Enhancers!
